Ingredients
500g | Granny Smiths apples (peeled & cored) |
150 ml | Water |
20g | Castor sugar |
½ | Lemon (juiced) |
½ | Cinnamon stick |
30g | Butter (unsalted) |
1 pinch | Salt |
5 | cloves |

Method
1. Roughly chop the apples.
2. Place in a pan all the ingredients & cover with a cartouche.
3. On a low heat simmer gently until soft.
4. Remove the cinnamon stick & cloves.
5. Roughly mash up the apples with a whisk.
